Welmoed Schmidt (1971) studied photography at the Art Academy (now ArtEZ) in Enschede, The Netherlands. During that time, late nineties, she started experimenting with double exposures. First black and white, more recent in full color. Creating images from existing photos of towns, architecture and landmarks is her main theme. Using multiple layers she constructs a new reality, with it’s own depth. It might take a second look to figure out what is going on in her images. Schmidt’s work has been exhibited in Austria, The Netherlands and Greece.
